missions that we support

January through March -

Helping Hands Korea

January through March, Cherishable Curiosities will be donating 20% of our profits to Helping Hands Korea.

HHK is an organization committed to an active response to the plight of human rights-deprived North Koreans through innovative projects that address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of North Koreans in crisis. HHK seeks to meaningfully and pragmatically respond to Jesus Christ’s call to love, serve, relieve suffering and set the exploited free. We believe the truth of Christ’s words, “Insofar as you have done it unto the least of these, you have done it unto me.” (Matthew 25:40)

Helping Hands Korea (HHK) is a Christian NGO based on the Korean Peninsula that has assisted North Koreans in crisis since 1996. Established in Seoul by Tim and Sunmi Peters, HHK has partnered with various individuals and organizations in South Korea and around the world that share a sense of urgency for vulnerable sectors of the population within North Korea as well as escapees, those who have fled the ruling Kim-family tyranny in the North. Escapees in China may face particularly dangerous and life-threatening consequences if arrested and repatriated to the DPRK. Punishments include extended prison camp detention, torture, forced abortion and public execution in extreme cases. HHK provides logistical support to escapees in China along the so called ‘underground railroad’ to guide them to safe havens in neighboring countries.

Provision of necessities: HHK endeavors to deliver food, medicine, and clothing to the most vulnerable sectors of the North Korean society, especially orphans in impoverished areas, the handicapped, the elderly as well as persecuted Christians. Food aid since 1996 has included rice biscuits, rice cakes, bread rolls, corn, flour, vegetable seeds, and ready-made porridge. Every effort is made to find partners of the highest integrity that use transparent monitoring methods despite very difficult circumstances.

Aid to children: HHK provides help in China to children who’ve been separated from or abandoned by North Korean escapee mothers who’ve often fallen victim to Chinese human traffickers. Assistance ranges from foster care for children to monthly stipends to assist elderly grand-parents struggling with their care in China.

Advocacy: We use selected opportunities to bring the issues of injustice, state-enforced poverty, the denial of religious freedom and other universal human rights to a wider public through legislative hearings (US Congress, U.K, and Canadian Parliaments), and with media sources that have a proven track record of even-handed treatment of these issues. Lectures and other speaking engagements have proven useful in bringing key issues to a broader global public as well as influencing legislation, governmental and non-governmental policies

Our Mission: To courageously live for Jesus Christ and offer transformation to individuals and communities through Him.

Our Values: EMPOWERING - We believe that the Gospel of Christ enables all believers to be agents of change within themselves, their communities, and the world at large.

FRUITFUL – We believe that through our relationships and ministry efforts, God is making a bounty of new believers and strengthening existing believers to live their faith in the face of hardship.

COURAGEOUS – We believe that despite persecution and danger, we are called to share the Gospel message of hope in Jesus Christ with all people.

GOSPEL CENTERED - We believe that all of our efforts spring from Christ’s message of salvation and are only possible as we commit to ever-growing faith and prayer

Our Mission: Every Child Indiana is a network of licensing agencies, volunteer organizations, DCS, advocates, and other organizations working together in trust-building collaboration to fill the biggest gaps in caring for children and families before, during, and beyond foster care in our state.

~What We Do ~

STORYTELLING: Every Child shares the realities of foster care while demonstrating a positive, collaborative, and hopeful tone that challenges the stereotypes associated with the system and those involved.

EMPOWERING VOLUNTEERS: Every Child provides meaningful ways for anyone and everyone to engage with the child welfare system.

RAISING UP NEW FOSTER PARENTS: While inviting individuals to get involved at any level, Every Child Indiana is relentless about sharing the need for more foster families (resource). Our mission is to demystify the process and help anyone willing to open their homes get partnered with the best organization for them.

SUPPORTING FAMILIES: As foster families (resource) come forward at an unprecedented rate and families of origin get reunified (the goal of foster care), Every Child provides relational, community, and tangible support for families.

~Our Values~

COMPASSION: We show empathy and understanding for the challenges faced by children and families impacted by foster care, and we take action to support them with kindness and compassion.

October through december -

open doors…

October through December, Cherishable Curiosities will be donating 20% of our profits to 2 different Missions!

About Open Doors:

“Open Doors works in more than 70 countries, supplying Bibles, training church leaders, providing practical support and emergency relief, and supporting Christians who suffer persecution and discrimination for their faith. Our national bases in 25 countries work to raise awareness of global persecution, mobilizing prayer, support, and action among Christians.”

Our purpose is to strengthen and equip Christians around the world who are facing persecution and discrimination because of their faith in Jesus Christ and to encourage their involvement in world evangelism by:

  • Providing Bibles and literature, media, leadership training, socio-economic development, and through intercessory prayer

  • Preparing the body of Christ living in threatened or unstable areas to face persecution and suffering

  • Educating and mobilizing the body of Christ living in the free world to identify with threatened and persecuted Christians and be actively involved in assisting them

We do so because we believe that when one member suffers, all members suffer with it (1 Corinthians 12:26).

All doors are open, and God enables His body to go into all the world and preach the gospel.

“God invites us to influence our community, our nation, and the world – to literally direct history while we're on our knees.”

About SOS Children’s Villages:

“We build families for children in need, help them shape their futures and share in the development of their communities. SOS Children’s Villages envisions a world in which every child belongs to a family and grows up with love, respect and security.”

Over the past seven decades, SOS Children’s Villages has expanded its village-based model to include a fully comprehensive approach of helping children, families and communities succeed long-term. We strengthen families to prevent child abandonment, provide loving homes for children who lack parental care, educate and empower children to reach their full potential and advocate for children’s rights so their voices can be heard.
